Director of Residential Division
With over a decade in design, Lydia Sutakul, Allied Member ASID, specializes in high-end residential and commercial concepts. As the Director of the Residential Division for Schick Design Group, Lydia currently attains her personal goal of doing all things well. That includes programming and conceptual design through documentation and project management.
Although Lydia was born in Bangkok, Thailand, she has lived in the United States since 1986 earning her BA degree in Interior Design from FIDER accredited California State University. Developing her skills in Fresno, California, she then moved to Arizona to work for Janelle Schick. She and her team have since won numerous ASID Design Excellence awards.
Wanting to broaden her commercial experience, Lydia briefly moved to another local design firm, where she was instrumental in the conceptual and design development, completing construction documents, of two 50,000 square foot private clubhouses located in Scottsdale, Arizona and San Diego, California.
In her philosophy of design, Lydia brings excitingly fresh perspectives. As an intuitive listener, Lydia connects with and shares the vision of the client bringing her Thai cultural sensitivity to the project, seeing hidden details which others may overlook. The possibilities she raises offer new insights into the esthetics of design creativity. These qualities apply not only to residential, but commercial as well. Recently, Lydia has found a passion for environmental sustainability in interiors. She has instituted the specification of green products in past projects and will continue to develop this strategy for future clients. Her broad perspective allows her to conceive ideas which maintain the integrity of any budgetary restraints.
